Below is a letter being shared by the Upton Fire & EMS Association.
“Support Upton Firefighter Paramedic Robert Johnson”
Robert Johnson is a professional firefighter, paramedic, chaplain, Local PFFM President, friend and brother to us. If you are a firefighter or EMT, you likely know him as “Bump”. Bob has been with the Upton Fire EMS Department for the last 2 1/2 years. As one of our first Career Firefighter/Paramedics, Bob was instrumental in launching our Advanced Life Support Program and became our ALS Coordinator. From day one he has always been actively involved in every aspect of being a member of our department from giving station hours to becoming our department chaplain. Bob was previously with Sturbridge Fire, a per diem medic in Dudley and most recently worked per diem in the Emergency Department at Milford Regional Medical Center.
Bob is currently battling Stage 4 Cancer of the Esophagus and Stomach. He began to notice something was wrong shortly after Thanksgiving and sought treatment. He has been out of work since the beginning of January. Bob is devastated at not being able to serve the residents of Upton who have come to know his kindness and compassion. He is currently receiving radiation and chemo treatments at Dana Farber in Milford. Bob is a man of strong character, even temperament, and deep religious beliefs. He has the loving support of his wife, Lisa, and his children to see him through. Bob has always been the first to support others in their time of need. We are asking for support for Bob.
The Upton Professional Firefighters Association Local 5116 has established the Robert Johnson fund at UniBank, 113 Main Street Upton, MA 01568 to assist Bob and his family with expenses through this most difficult and unexpected time in their lives. Please support our efforts by making a donation to the Upton PFFA Robert Johnson Fund.
Thank you for your assistance.
