Maple Sugar Maker’s Weather Watch
Is it maple sugaring season yet? Let’s talk about the weather and the science of maple sugaring to find out what conditions get the sap running, then head out on the trail for some hands on action as we measure and mark trees for tapping. Meet at Visitor Center, all ages. Up to 1 mile walk.

Habitat Hike
See what wildlife is up to in the winter around the park. Find clues of winter residents; think like an animal as we walk around habitats that may provide cozy resting places. Meet at Visitor Center, walk approximately 1 mile. Dress for the weather.

Kidleidoscope Story Time
Nature Story time starts up again on February vacation! Join us in the heated meeting room for nature stories, followed by a craft activity and a short outdoor nature walk. Meets rain or shine- during inclement weather, outdoor discoveries will be substituted by a scavenger hunt in the unheated hayloft of River Bend Farm Visitor Center. Bundle up and get young children out and enjoying nature! Meets weekly, every Friday starting Feb 24.

Watching Wildlife
Indoor program meets in Visitor Center conference room. Discover tracks, scat and signs that wildlife leaves behind; learn what wild things live at the park and what to look for before you head out on the trail.
Saturday, February 25, 12:00-1:00
Bark and Branches Winter Tree ID
Take a walk around River Bend Farm as we identify trees by their shape and bark. Learn some clever clues to easily identify trees in winter. Meet at Visitor Center. Easy walk approximately 1 mile.

Saturday, February 25, 1:00-1:30
Nature Journals and Sun Prints
Slow down and enjoy reading the landscape, take time to observe the natural world and sketch or write your thoughts down. Supplies provided to make your own journal and sun print. Sun prints are made from placing objects on photo sensitive paper. A great way to celebrate the short days becoming longer and preserve nature images. Meet inside Visitor Center, all ages welcome.
Sunday, February 26, 11:00-12:00
Empty Nest Winter Walk
Take an easy stroll through the meadow paths to enjoy all the season has to offer as we take advantage of the bare trees to find empty nests. Look for clues in size, shape, habitat, and nesting materials to identify which nesting birds come to the area. Meet at Visitor Center, all ages welcome. Approximately 1 mile. If conditions permit, bring snowshoes and hiking poles.
