My name is Eddie Darragh and I am pleased to announce that I am running for election for Mendon Upton Regional School Committee (MURSD).

I moved to Upton in 2014 with my wife Marilyn of 9 years. We have two daughters, Sydney (8) is our 3rd grader and Hayden (7) is our 1st grader at Memorial Elementary.

I earned a bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in law at Bryant University. I am a Wealth Management Advisor by profession. I am a Certified Financial Planner™, Accreted Wealth Management Advisor ®, and I am studying for my Masters in Financial Planning.

I have been blessed to have a number of experiences that I believe will continue to add value to the committee. I have listed a few below.

— I have extensive fiscal management experience, from earning a Finance degree, to over 19 years hands on experience with managing budgets, approving expenses and financial reporting.

— I have worked with several charities which has given me experience with managing budgets, approving expenses and financial reporting.

— I have served on the Upton Community Preservation Committee. Where we vote to approve funding for Upton Town Projects, such as the work done over the years at Kiwanis Beach.

— I am an honest, dedicated and caring individual, which wants to provide a safe, clean learning environment for our children so that they can excel in school and in life.

I will fight tirelessly for our children and our school district, but also the tax payer. The School Committee must implement programs that help achieve goals, but it is imperative that we do it in a fiscally responsible manner. That is not to say we cut programs that improve the learning experience, but does mean we do cut what does not add to the learning experience.

I respectfully ask for your vote on May 1st to elect Eddie Darragh for MURSD School Committee.

Congratulations for getting out there and running. Could you be more specific as to what programs “that do not add to the learning experience” would be? Where are you looking to cut?

A Facebook Page will be up in running by the end of the month. Details around my campaign platform will be illustrated there. Thank you for you question.
