Over 500 women will connect and network at the first MetroWest Conference for Women at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Framingham on Thursday September 14, 2017.  Inspired by conferences in larger cities, this sold-out conference provides a local and affordable opportunity within the MetroWest area to make meaningful connections and listen to world class speakers and panels.
The conference features four keynote speakers during breakfast and lunch.  Nicole Sahin, CEO of Globalization Partners, will present “Building a Unicorn: Fireside Chat with CEO of the #1 Female Fastest-Growing Private Company in America.”  Gender advocate Dr. Patti Fletcher and will discuss the challenge of career equity. Marie Marlow, author of The Real Food Grocery Guide, will show attendees how to create and keep healthy eating habits. Author and award-winning blogger Liz O’Donnell will talk about work-life balance for the sandwich generation.
The conference features a day packed with comprehensive panels that encompass an array of issues women face, such as careers, parenting, love and relationships, life paths, money management, and health and wellness.  Each panel boasts 4-6 expert speakers who have been working together for months to provide a thoughtful and cohesive interactive discussion.
VIP Attendees will be treated to an evening of laughs on Wednesday evening at the Pre-Conference VIP Reception lead by comedian Kelly McFarland, who recently won the Ladies of Laughter 2016 competition.  The conference itself begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday September 15 with a keynote speaker over breakfast, and provides a day full of listening to speakers and panels, engaging with exhibitors, and networking with attendees and organizers.
Founded in December 2016, the MetroWest Conference for Women board of directors consists of 28 professionals, drawing from a wide array of expertise and backgrounds including private business, education, health care, government, non-profits and the media. Together they began on their mission to create a conference that added “information, resources, networking and mentoring” to ultimately increase the opportunities available to women within the MetroWest region, according to their website.
Through social media posts and sharing, the word about the MetroWest Conference for Women spread rapidly, according to Jen Maseda, President & CEO of MetroWest Conference for Women.  “Almost immediately, I got responses asking ‘how can I get involved? How can I be supportive?’”  She also attributes the overwhelming participation response to their open board meetings held in public spaces, where anyone could come and see what the group was all about.
The MetroWest Conference for Women has many sponsors supporting their mission, according to Maseda. “Own It!” sponsors include BOSE and Applause. “Love It!” sponsors include Avidia Bank, Middlesex Savings Bank, Mutual One Bank, and MetroWest Medical Center. “Work It!” Sponsors include Framingham State University, Eastern Bank, Barnes & Noble, and Microsoft.  “Be It!” sponsors include American Girl, Cumberland Farm, and The TJX Companies, Inc.  Contributing sponsors include Athleta, Blue Hill Promotional Products, and Ferrari Carano Vineyards and Winery. “Do It!” sponsors include MAPA Translations and Language Solutions and Fitts Insurance.  The Conference was thankful to receive many small business donations as well.
