Unresolved Charter Outages – Williams Street Area

charterThe Williams Street area of Upton has not been able to watch television over the past week due to an outage with cable service provider, Charter Cable . Customers in the area have not seen any trucks indicating Charter is working on the current issue. Some residents have reported Charter trucks in Upton, but not in the Williams Street area.

Crystal Maloney is frustrated. “My regular cable stations don’t work at all, it says temporarily off air. The HD channels come in –  if you call a scrambled picture and in and out sound coming in.” Crystal also has phone and internet with Charter, which have been working fine, with the exception of Monday when she lost all services.

Service was temporarily restored Monday evening, only to go out again Tuesday. When customers in the area contact Charter they are told there is an outage, no other information is available.

Charter customers are also upset as some customers have received a $20 credit for the interruption in service, while others have not.

The uptondaily found Charter communication offers “Charter All In One Customer Guarantee.” Under the Reliability Guarantee  portion customers are entitled to receive a $20 credit for service interruption of more than 24 hours, in order to receive the credit customers must call Charter to report the service interruption to initiate documentation, the service interruption time starts from the time it was reported to Charter. The customer must request the $20 credit as Charter will not apply the credit automatically. Restrictions do apply.

  1. We live on Maple Ave and we experienced intermittent outages with all of our Charter services from Tuesday through Thursday of this week. I asked for a credit and they issued it for the three days service was affected. No explanation on what caused the outages.

  2. I’ve made more than 14 phone calls to Charter since January. Thursday however I was contacted by a Charter representative in WORCESTER, MA, (508-852-2000). This very helpful person noted the number of calls that I had made to Charter from disruption of service. His supervisor wanted some more details about the disruptions. I recommend calling the Worcester office to see if you can be compensated more than $20 for the high level of lost service if you are in the Williams Street area.
