JetBlue will offer daily flights from Worcester to Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando Florida starting November 7 with connecting destinations to include Austin, Texas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and several Caribbean cities
This is the first regularly scheduled passenger service at the airport since Direct Air filed for bankruptcy this time last year cancelling all flights and leaving many travelers scrambling to find new flights just before April vacation.
The addition of a name-brand airline is hoped to provide a boost to the airport, which has struggled to retain service.
Massport is giving JetBlue a $275,000 break on airport fees and charges for two years and giving the airline $150,000 worth of free marketing, which is part of an incentive program the agency offers at Logan Airport to attract new international service.
