Mendon Upton Regional School District is excited about an opportunity to partner with the STEM Education Center at Worcester Poly Tech for the purposes of having WPI staff work with district leadership and key teachers to develop a strategic plan for what STEM will look like in the district. WPI would begin working with the district this summer.
“STEM education is an enormous undertaking and is one of our major initiatives in our new strategic plan,” said MURSD Superintendent Dr. Maruszczak. “How do we define STEM in our district; I know at the HS we want to do a lot more with job shadowing with meaningful internships in STEM related careers, but what does it look like at the elementary and middle school level. If we are selected to be one of the partner districts we will have the opportunity to work with WPI staff. We will have time to develop a real strategic plan around STEM so we can really hit the ground running. This is an outstanding opportunity”
The application will be filed by April12. On June 11 the district will attend a meeting where the findings of last years WPI pilot program will be presented.
