Protect your kids – turn in unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs – Sat 4/27

drugsEvery day approximately 2,500 kids ages 12 to 17 abuse a pain reliever for the first time. Prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications are fast becoming the new “party” drugs for many teenagers. The new trend among  youth is known as “pharming” – that is, kids using  prescription and OTC drugs for recreational use.  Many parents are not aware that their own medicine cabinets are potential sources of these drugs for teenage abuse. A smart way to protect your children is to turn in prescription drugs which are no longer needed or have expired.

The Central Massachusetts Regional Public Health Alliance will be holding a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 27th from 10AM-2PM in Leicester, Millbury, Shrewsbury and Worcester. Turn in your unused, unwanted or expired prescriptions and over the counter medications, no questions asked to the following locations:

Milford Police Department, 250 Main Street, Milford MA.

Leicester Police Department, 90 South Main Street, Leicester
Leicester Recycling Center, Mannville Street, Leicester
Millbury Police Department, 127 Elm Street, Millbury
Shrewsbury Senior Center, 98 Maples Avenue, Shrewsbury
Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence Street, Worcester
