UPTON’S ANNUAL LOYALTY DAY—SUNDAY, APRIL 28th

It’s going to be a perfect spring weekend with lots of sunshine. Make it even better by celebrating Upton’s own Annual Loyalty Day on Sunday, April 28th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are all the old favorites as well as some new activities that are sure to be a big hit! So, Upton Youth Cal Ripken Baseball invites you to come on out and enjoy this fun filled day that is the official start of the spring sports season as well as a time set aside for the national observance of American freedom and reaffirmation of loyalty to the United States.
Kicking off the day is the always favorite baseball skills challenge for ages 8-12. A hit with all the players, it features the home run derby, a base running contest and throwing and fielding skills contests. Prizes are awarded to the winners.
At noon, the ever popular Loyalty day Parade begins at Memorial School continuing down Main Street to the VFW. The parade features various Upton and Mendon sports teams, school bands, along with government and public safety officials. The parade ends at the Upton VFW with a ceremony and speeches in Centerfield.
From 1-4 p.m., the fun picks up with a slew of activities! Games will be played on an off the field all afternoon. New this year, there will be a speed pitching game, a dunk tank and a bouncy house along with face painting and a ring toss.
Also new this year and sure to be a big hit, a SILENT AUCTION will be held inside the VFW hall offering sports memorabilia. A great fundraiser for the baseball program, come check it out!
Tickets for the Baseball Program’s ROLLING RAFFLE will be available starting on Loyalty Day and going through the entire baseball season. Tickets cost $1 each or 6 for $5. There will be new items raffled off every week with the first item, a signed piece of memorabilia, being raffled off on Loyalty Day! Each raffle ticket purchased will be valid for the next raffle item, assuming it was not a previous winner.
Food will be available all day whether it is from the grill or Snack Shack or get a frosty treat from the visiting sno cone truck.
Whatever things you decide to enjoy at Loyalty Day, please know that all proceeds will go toward funding the Upton Youth Baseball program as well as field renovations down at the VFW.
