Grafton & Upton Railroad is a grant recipient in this year’s Massachusetts Industrial Access Program.
According to an article in railadvisor.com Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray said part of the Massachusetts State Rail Plan is focused on increasing access for freight to rail service to support regional growth and investing in these projects is a way of upgrading the commonwealth’s freight rain network.
Grafton & Upton will receive $221,700 to make improvements to the Hopedale yard by constructing a switching lead and several sidings throughout the yard. The Grafton Upton Railroad will contribute $330,300 and the total project cost equals $552,000.
