Miscoe Hill School to Build Vegetable Garden

cucumberssubmitted by Healther Applegate

Recently the MURSD district has formed a Wellness Committee to develop a comprehensive plan to integrate nutrition, fitness and psycho-social education into the school curriculum. As a result of these meetings Ms. Mcintyre, Miscoe Hill School Wellness Teacher, wishes to build a vegetable garden at Miscoe Hill School. The expectation is that students will learn about how our food is grown as well as offering the school fresh, locally grown vegetables. I am assisting her with planning the garden but we could use some help. Please let me know if you can volunteer for any of the following activities:

Assisting in planning the garden project.
Contacting area gardening centers for donations of plants, compost, soaking hose, or other needed items.
Donating plants or gardening supplies.
Check-in on the garden with your student one day per week in either July or August to water or weed as necessary.

Please send me a note if you are able to help and let me know what
activity you can help with. Also, please share this request with any other
incoming Miscoe Hill parents.
