Recently the Upton DPW, Chief of Police, and Town Manager had a meeting with a representative from the Department of Transportation to discuss a complaint which had been filed regarding parking on Route 140 near the Library. The Department of Transportation has a state-wide policy that no parking be allowed on a State road and Route 140 is a State road. The Town of Upton has reached a solution by which no parking will be allowed from approximately the walkway to the sidewalk from the Library to the Grove Street intersection. The State will install a new sign and stripe the no parking area so it is clear to motorists. They will also stripe the crosswalk.
