The Milford Daily News is reporting Upton believed they had reached an agreement with United Parish of Upton in regards to leasing parking spaces as part of the Town Hall Renovation Project. The church’s lawyers have now approached the Town with different terms, which was unexpected. What was believed to be the agreement was a 20 year lease with three town-option 10 year renewals. The proposal the Town is looking at now may require Upton to negotiate new terms with the church after the 20 year lease is over. The selectman expressed concerns with the changes and may consider other options.
Because it’s Friday, the Selectmen’s office and other offices at the Upton Town Hall are closed and no one was available for comment. When the Upton Town Hall Renovation project is completed the Town Hall will be open Monday through Friday.
