“Riders in the Storm” member, Dr. Peggy Laneri, says Thank You

IMG_0981Upton VFW Senior Vice Commander, Dr. Peggy Laneri, participated in the New England MS Chapter’s Bike-a-thon as part of local team, “Riders of the Storm.”

The Cape Cod Getaway is the largest MS ride in New England. Beginning on the morning of Saturday June 29, over 2000 riders pedaled from UMass Boston through the coastal towns of Massachusetts’ South Shore to the beginning of Cape Cod. The first day of the ride ended at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne where the riders were welcomed with music, great food and maybe even a beer or two. Early Sunday morning, the riders crossed the Bourne bridge and biked through picturesque Cape Cod as they made their way to the finish line in Provincetown.

Peggy chose the Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway because she wanted to help those who have been diagnosed. On her fundraising page she states “I want to do something for the people whose MS has been diagnosed — and because I want to do everything to prevent more people from having to live with this disease. Today, there is no cure for multiple sclerosis, and with diagnosis occurring most frequently between the ages of 20 and 50, many individuals face a lifetime filled with unpredictability.”

Peggy set her fundraising goal at $750 but ended up raising over $1,700. Peggy said in an email “I wanted to thank everyone who supported me, either financially or through positive thoughts and energy. It all worked. Thanks so much!”
