Upton Fire/EMS Respond to Uxbridge Six-Alarm Fire July 18

uptonfiredepartmentUpton Fire Department sent Engine 1 and Rescue 2 to the Uxbridge Six-Alarm Fire which gutted the 32 South Main Street Building on Thursday July, 18.

Upton firefighters worked at the fire scene to extinguish the fire. Chief Goodale wrote in an email, “It was obviously very hot which required that we rotate from the scene to rehab, where they are cooled and hydrated.”

When firefighters go through rehab in addition to fluids their vital signs are checked. Two Millville and one Northbridge firefighter were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion and all are doing okay.

This is the second historic building to burn in Uxbridge within the last few weeks. The first was the the 1820 Albee building which was the scene of a 3 alarm fire on July 3rd. Yesterday’s fire involved an 118 year old 3 story Victorian building which was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places 30 years ago.
