My daughter turned 16 this last week. What did she want to do for her birthday? Feed Giraffes!
My first thought was, what kind of wish was that? How is that going to happen?
Well she then went on to tell us Southwick’s Zoo offers Giraffe Encounters where you are permitted to feed the Giraffes at the zoo. You can’t make a reservation and space is limited.
So yesterday morning we arrived at the zoo when the doors opened. When we arrived we asked to purchase tickets for the Giraffe Encounter. The girl who was working admissions told us the tickets are purchased “out there.” I asked her “at the Giraffe Exhibit?” She said, “yes.” So we walked to the Exhibit which is about a 10 minute walk and probably took us 15 because I am slow. When we arrived the employee working the Giraffe information table said, “Oh no, you purchase the tickets at admissions and I understand the first two sessions are already sold out.”
OOHH NOOOO!
So we hustled back to the front of the zoo. I asked at the information booth where the tickets are purchased explaining what had just happened. The person working the booth was kind and apologized, explaining the girl we had checked with was a new. Fortunately for us he was able to get my daughter and son added to the 1:30 feeding. YA!
You should have seen her face. She was so thrilled to be that close to the Giraffes!
