Nipmuc Regional High School Students go to Ecuador – World Challenge Expedition

On Saturday July 13, sixteen Nipmuc Regional High School Students boarded a plane to Ecuador as part of a World Challenge Expedition. While in Ecuador they will be trekking and performing community service, giving back to one of the less fortunate areas of Ecuador.

Joyce Esker, mom of student Steph Esker, reported last week the kids are having a great time. They were white water rafting in the Amazon and some students were brave enough to go night swimming….in the Amazon – including Steph! While on their main trek they took a took dip in the Quilotoa Crater Lake.

Even though they have been busy serving the community and trekking they managed to fit in a typical American birthday celebration with cake and pizza for fellow trekker, Kyle McGreal. The students were looking forward to hike/climb the summit of Ruminahui Volcano over the weekend.

Yesterday the were due to arrive at the Galapagos Islands for rest and relaxation. The students are due home this weekend.

Let’s hope they have lots of great photos and quotes for Upton Daily when they return!

Here are a few images from before they left.
