The Upton Cultural Council needs your help.
Many of the programs offered through the Upton schools, Kiwanis Beach, Upton State Forest, Upton Senior Center, Upton Town Library, and more are funded or partially funded through the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Upton’s council reviews and writes grants to bring arts, sciences and humanities to Upton.
The council is in need of a person to chair the committee in order to continue funding these wonderfully enriching opportunities.
Kelly Hurd, currently the Chair for the Cultural Council, wrote in an email, “This is not an overwhelming volunteer experience, though admittedly the chair position does require more time than a member’s position would. The committee meets twice, maybe three time a year.” In addition to the meetings some responsibilities include logging data into a web site a few times a year, scheduling meetings, advertising on a local level, mailing denial/approval letters to grant recipients, and annual reporting. Kelly is willing to train whoever takes on the position and has all the information required.
If you are interested in this position or in becoming a member on the Cultural Council email Kelly at Kelly Hurd khurd@isolve.com.
