Upton Selectmen Recognize Red Rock Owners and Police Chief Bradley

policechiefredrockSelectman Jim Brochu took a moment to recognize Russ and Sherry Berger during the August 20th selectmen’s meeting.

Russ and Sherry, owners of the Red Rock Grill and Bar, organized and hosted the Red Rock Warrior Challenge Triathlon. The event took place on Saturday August, 17.  Participants ran 3.5 miles, biked 12.5 miles and then kayaked 1.25 miles. Individuals paid an entry fee of $75 and relay teams a fee of $125. Monies raised were to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and Nipmuc Football.

Selectman Brochu said “Sherri did an outstanding job hosting the triathlon and fundraiser to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.” Brochu was proud to participate in the event and be on a great team. The Upton Selectmen entered the challenge as a relay team. Robert Fleming ran, Ken Picard biked, and Jim Brochu kayaked. Brochu said he, “couldn’t have been prouder of the team finishing and wants to thank them, it was a true honor to be part of a good team.”

Ken Picard wanted to reach out to Police Chief Bradley who also participated and did all three legs himself.  Jim joked saying, “and he still came in ahead of us.” Ken would like to challenge other department heads to participate next year, maybe we can have a friendly competition between the departments.” The selectmen sent their kudos to Chief Bradley for participating.

The selectmen also noted the volunteerism which took place throughout the community and specifically noted the help of the Fire/EMS.

The selectmen agreed, Sherry and Russ did a great job.
