Will construction at the West Main Street/School Street intersection mess up your morning commute?

You’ve probably seen the variable message near the West Main Street/School Street intersection on your way to 495 notifying commuters of construction. The construction will take place from now until November, according to Upton Town Manager, Blythe Robinson.

When construction is completed the intersection will have a traffic signal with left-turn lanes in both directions on West Main Street which will eliminate the back up caused by turning traffic. As part of the construction the road will also be widened. The signal will hopefully not only reduce the back up but also make the intersection safe;  24 crashes have taken place at that intersection over the past 5 years.

The question is how will the construction and the light pattern effect your morning commute?
