Upton looks for parking for the Town Hall

uptontownhallUpton found itself with no parking for employees of  the Town Hall when they were unable to reach an agreement with United Parish. The plans for the reconstruction of the Town Hall included leasing a portion of the United Parish Parking Lot. Unfortunately the town believed they had reached an agreement with the church but the church was not done negotiating. After a lengthy period of discussion the Town and United Parish decided to end discussions.

Upton is seeking proposals for the purchase of a parcel of land walking distance to the Town Hall for the purpose of parking for employees. The lot on Warren Street will hold several spaces for visitors to the Town Hall.

A Request for Proposals to purchase a parcel of land has been posted. In the proposal it states the seller must be prepared to enter a purchase and sale agreement within 30 days of the request of the proposal.

There is an appropriation from Town Meeting as part of the Town Hall Renovation Project for the purchase at this time. Any award of a purchase and sales agreement as a result of this Request for Proposals will be subject to Town Meeting authorization and appropriation, and the other contingencies stated herein. The funding source for the project is the Town Hall Renovation Project approved at the May 9, 2013 Annual Town Meeting.

Information and proposal requirements are available at the Upton Board of Selectmen’s office, 3 Milford Street, Upton, MA 01568 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday – Thursday.
