My friend Jennifer was driving on 495 South from Lowell this past Wednesday night when she was struck by another car. She momentarily lost control of her car and skid off the highway almost hitting a tree. Luckily she is okay.
It was a hit and run. While the investigation was underway all signs pointed to the possibility the driver who hit her could have been under the influence. But that wasn’t the case, further investigation found… he wasn’t drunk or a young kid texting…. what pray tell was he…. he was a salad eater.. ..distracted by his tasty dressed greens.
What?
YES… he was eating a salad while driving on the highway!
Who eats a salad while driving? Who eats anything that would require a fork or a spoon and drives?
Really, has it come to this. People are so busy they can only find time to eat meals which require utensils while driving? This person couldn’t wait until he arrived at his destination, or had something to eat before he left? Had it really been that long before his previous meal that he couldn’t wait?
OMG, really, a SALAD! Did the dressing dribble on his tie…is that what distracted him? Did the cherry tomato fall on his lap? Could it be he was trying to get the fork stabbed into the cucumber slice?
Good Grief! If you need to eat a salad for crying out loud don’t eat it behind the wheel while you are driving!
My son and hubby once saw a woman driving a huge SUV eating spaghetti from a bowl off her dashboard. That’s right, spaghetti. My son watched her lean into the steering wheel, reaching out over the dashboard, fork in hand. She placed her fork into the pasta bowl and TWIRLED the spaghetti, once her fork was loaded with red sauced pasta she opened her mouth and stuffed it in. My son didn’t think it would all fit in her mouth, but it did. They were both grossed out, disturbed, and amused; laughing the rest of the way home. This happened over 5 years ago and my son still talks about the crazy lady eating spaghetti on the road, “it’s not safe, how could she drive and twirl pasta, that lady was crazy.”
What’s the craziest food/activity you have seen by drivers on the highway?
Be safe out there! Now we have to worry about drunk drivers, texters, and salad eaters.
