NIPMUC VARSITY FOOTBALL NEWS

It was a beautiful night for a game under the lights in Grafton. Nipmuc had a great showing against the Indians, who were last years Superbowl champs. The Nipmuc Warriors played well defensively giving up only 6 points. Grafton’s defense outmatched Nipmuc’s offense and the game ended 6-0 Grafton.

The Warriors most exciting play was a lateral pass. Nipmuc’s quarterback tossed the ball to Nick Greer who made an impressive completion down field  but Nipmuc was not able to take advantage of their field position.

The Nipmuc Warriors next game is Friday September 20 at Hopkinton – 7 pm.

NIPMUC GIRLS VARSITY VOLLEYBALL NEWS

nipmucvb13

It was an exciting night for the Nipmuc girls varsity volleyball team winning their first game ever as a varsity team.

They were matched against the Bellingham Black Hawks. The Nipmuc Warriors won the first set, lost the second set 23/25, and won two sets in a row to take the game.

This is the first season Nipmuc has offered a varsity program and the game against Bellingham was Nipmuc’s 3rd varsity level game. They were matched up against a well  established program; Bellingham has offered varsity volleyball for at least 35 years. Making the win that much more impressive.

The Nipmuc girls are getting their rhythm and had an outstanding showing. Team captains Sabrina and Lauren lead the team to their very first victory. Setters Katie and Maddie ensured perfect placement of the ball in order for hitters Sabrina, Lauren, Grace, Elizabeth, and Adriana to make the kills. Libero, Kim, supported the team with strong defensive plays. Kylie exhibited great network. Players Lindsay, Julia, Katherine, and Emily made precise passes.

Congratulations girls. Their next game is scheduled for Monday at Sutton.
