On Friday, September 20, 2013, the Nipmuc Girls Varsity and JV Volleyball teams traveled to Boston to attend the Northeastern vs Boston College volleyball match, a tradition started by coach Christine Corey three years ago. The lady Warriors were greeted at the the Solomon Court facility by the Northeastern staff with the excitement of music and cheers from: the pep band, “Paws” the Husky mascot, and a large group of supportive NU fans. The atmosphere on a Friday night at Northeastern was a great experience for the girls and provided a great backdrop for the tremendous play exhibited by the lady Huskies who ultimately won the match 3-1.
After the match the Nipmuc girls were given the opportunity to join the Northeastern players on the court for a meet and greet. With the Nipmuc program in it’s 3rd year, the players see the Huskies as role models for their sport and as an inspiration for what they can achieve both on and off the court. The Nipmuc volleyball program truly appreciates the gracious reception provided by the staff and players of Northeastern and we look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.
