Senior Wally Esker scored in the first half for Nipmuc, as the Warriors continued their incredible tournament run by upsetting second-seeded Bartlett in a Division 3 Central semifinal.
Goalie Junior Sam Manning preserved the shutout for the Warriors.
After the final seconds of the game the entire team rushed the field. One spectator described the scene as “it was just like the Red Sox win!”
Nipmuc will play fourth-seeded Douglas on Saturday in the Division 3 Central final at Foley Stadium, 305 Chandler St., Worcester at 2 p.m.
The school community is showing lots of spirit for this 14th seeded boys soccer team who now is in the finals.
