Mendon will hold the town’s 20th annual tree-lighting ceremony tonight featuring hot chocolate, holiday cheer and some special guests.
The lighting is coordinated by the Boy Scout Troop 44, Mendon Fire Department, Mendon Lions club, Taft Library, and Charles River Banks.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at Founder’s Park (near the lights at Route 16 and North Ave). Crowds usually begin to arrive 30 minute before the lighting. Parking is available across the street at Charles River Bank.
Special guests include Santa, who will arrive on a fire truck to visit with the girls and boys. Other guests include Frosty and Rudolph who will be on hand to pass out candy canes.
