Earlier this week Upton Selectmen signed a mutual aid agreement between Upton and the City of Worcester Police Departments. Upton Police Officers will now have police powers while taking a prisoner to a hospital or courthouse in Worcester and will legally be able to act if, for example, a prisoner tries to escape. Before the agreement, Upton officers had no power within the city limits no matter where they were.
