On December 3, 2013 AAA Southern New England recognized Massachusetts law enforcement, legislators and stakeholders for their achievements in traffic safety. Communities throughout the state were honored for education and enforcement programs.
The Upton Police Department was recognized by AAA Southern New England for 18 years without a pedestrian fatality, for their success in pedestrian safety, and for their continuing efforts both past and present to educate and protect the citizens of Upton.
When asked if one particular officer runs the safety program Chief Bradley said, “In Upton all of our officers are involved in traffic safety.”
The department has a traffic enforcement plan that assigns officers to enforcement locations based on the volume of traffic, rate of motor vehicle crashes, and citizens’ complaints. The focus is to reduce traffic incidents. Chief Bradley advised officers are assigned on a monthly basis based on the enforcement plan, “with the goal of reducing crashes and increasing safety based on feedback from our residents.”
AAA Southern New England salutes the Upton Police Department for their commitment to public safety.
