What’s happening on Christian Hill?

It’s not everyday you see a house torn down.

The property on 9 Christian Hill Road was recently purchased by Bill Moshier of Upton. Moshier had originally planned to keep the house and do some updates but after getting a complete picture of what was involved he determined to start from scratch. “The cinder-block walls were hollow, so to get the proper insulation it would have been too much. I would need to build a wall inside or do spray foam. This way it can be 2 by 6 construction and keep with all the new energy codes,” Moshier said.

The home was originally a 1,300 square foot ranch built-in the 1950s. The house is being transformed into a cape style home and when completed the home will be 2,000 square feet. Moshier is building off the original foundation. The completed home will have 3 bedrooms, just like the original. The additional square footage will be from adding a master bedroom off the back and bumping out the kitchen.

This home used to be owned by the Rooney sisters and some writing on the walls from 1963 was discovered during the construction process – see photos.

Bill Moshier owns Moshier Construction, Corp and hopes to complete the project by May.
