Upton Cub Scout Pack 132 hosted their annual Pinewood Derby event on January 25 with 57 scouts participating. The Derby is an annual event that has been running in Upton for decades.
Parents and sons work on their car together leading up to the event; sculpting, painting, decorating, and making sure the car has the appropriate weight.
Unlike in the old days, you don’t have to be the fastest car to win a trophy anymore. Scouts can win trophies for fastest, best decorated, most patriotic, most scoutish, funniest, and slowest (the Sunday driver award).
Pack 132 consists of Tigers (1st grade), Wolfs (2nd grade), Bears (3rd grade), Webelos 1 (4th grade), Webelos 2 (5th grade).
