Upton looks for state funding to improve RR Crossings

rail road crossingAt the February 4 selectmen meeting town Manager Blythe Robinson asked Rep. George Peterson if there would be any Chapter 130 program money for RR Crossings. Robinson also asked if there was any advice from the Department of Transportation on whether they would find any funds for crossings in Upton.

Rep. George Peterson said he has been working with Rep. Fernandes of Milford on placing a 2 million dollar earmark in the transportation bond bill for that purpose.

Rep. Peterson said, “It has passed the house and I’ve had conversations with my senators and hopefully it will pass in the senate.” Rep. Peterson said when it passes in the senate it becomes non conferencible and at that points it’s up to the administration to determine what earmarks will be funded. Rep. Peterson said, “At that point we can point out and say there should be money there.”

Robinson said, “Wonderful, let us know what we can do to work together on that.”
