The National Weather Service just updated their forecast stating heavy snow will reach south of the Massachusetts Turnpike between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m.
The approaching storm will quickly produce heavy snow at rates of up to 1-2 inches an hour. Later in the day there is a possibility of snow switching over to a wintery mix which will coat the area in a layer of ice. Later in the evening the winter mix will switch back to snow. It’s one of those storms where is all depends on how far the wintery mix line tracks inland – it’s tough to predict total snow accumulation – the area could end up with over a foot of snow. This storm comes with a one two punch – just when you think it’s over a heavier band will hit the area producing moderate snow for the commute Friday morning.
Travel will be difficult early Thursday into Friday morning.
A winter storm warning is in effect from Thursday 7 a.m. through Friday 7 a.m.
