On March 5 2014 the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) issued a student safety advisory warning students, coaches, and school administrators of a person attempting to lure local student-athletes to a hotel to “compete” in an “underground wrestling club.”
According to the advisory issued by the MIAA the suspicious person goes by the name “Manny Whelan” on Facebook and has been attempting to contact students through Facebook for at least two years. The behavior may not be exclusive to wrestling and the MIAA urges all coaches, students, and parents be informed.
