Renovations continue at the Upton Town Hall.
The most recent historical find was the original specifications for the Town Hall from 1883. The document is 20 pages long and one of the interesting notes is the design for the mantel over the fire-place in the Selectmen’s Office was up to the architect who was to spend no more than four dollars.
The Town Hall Renovation Committee will be working with a restoration company to restore the document for display at Town Hall.
Town Manager Blythe Robinson advised the Selectmen that it appears the project will be completed by Labor Day which is about a 30 day delay from the original finish date. The approximately 50 cubic yards of stone and ledge which needed to be removed from the lower level is what put the project behind. At this point the only issue they see which may delay the project further is the elevator. It’s about a 16 week wait period and there are only two elevator inspectors in the State.
