Blackstone Valley Tech Superintendent Dr. Fitzpatrick was recently informed that due to popular demand, WCVB-TV Channle 5 Boston will be re-airing the “Chronicle”episode featuring BVT. Fitzpatrick said, “The episode’s repeat broadcast comes at a fortunate time for Valley Tech, as residents in the 13-town District will vote next month on our request to add new programs in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace), Veterinary Assisting, and Legal & Protective Services. As the “Chronicle” episode highlights, a continued investment in BVT yields an invaluable return for our students, employers, and community.”
Chronicle’s summary of the episode: “Boys will be boys – and that’s apparently a problem in today’s classrooms. Boys are struggling at every level in education, with teenagers dropping out at a distressingly high rate and less than half of all college students male. And boys are twice as likely as girls to be diagnosed with ADHD. Is there a better way to turn boys into men? Anthony Everett reports.”
Valley Tech was featured as an example of a school system in which male and female students are engaged and succeeding on equal levels, thanks to the integration of vocational technical and academic curriculum.
