Blackstone Valley Regional Technical Vocational High School will not move forward with the proposed expansion to establish new programs in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace), Veterinary Assisting, and Legal and Protective Services.
In a statement to the press Superintendent Dr. Fitzpatrick wrote, “On Tuesday evening, Northbridge became the fourth town to approve the proposed Valley Tech expansion, with the remaining four towns of Bellingham, Blackstone, Hopedale and Milford also expected to support the project. However, last night also saw voters in Uxbridge soundly reject Valley Tech’s plan to expand. Since Uxbridge is a major percentage contributor to the proposed new bond and the fifth town to decline to support the project, despite close votes in several cases, we will not advance the expansion as originally proposed.”
Prior to knowing the outcome of the proposal Dr. Fitzpatrick said last week, “In the event a significant number of member communities do not support the funding necessary to add three new vocational technical programs, we will explore the feasibility of funding at least one of the proposed programs via the redirecting of seed money previously earmarked for capital improvements and initially intended to serve as rebates to new debt.”
this is so messed up these new programs can better help our future children.. i know when i went to bvt i didnt like any of the shops there if there was more of an option i think more kids would want to go to school.
Dislike. Children are our future. It’s all about the kids. I do not have any, but even I can recognize this. They are the future……
