U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel James Maloney of Upton will be appearing on Food Network’s Farmhouse Rules episode Operation: Farm Fresh this Memorial Day weekend.
Farmhouse Rules is a lifestyle and cooking show centered on Maloney’s Aunt, Nancy Fuller. Maloney recalls having many Thanksgiving Dinners at his Aunt’s home where the food was always delicious, often his Aunt would serve three different types of stuffings and farm fresh turkey, duck, or goose.
Operation: Farm Fresh welcomes home Maloney and his service buddies who are hungry for an All-American home cooked meal and Aunt Nancy is happy to oblige. The episode includes recipes for Fried Pork Chips, Braised Kale and Tomotes, Apple Pie with Cheddar Cheese Crust and Beer Ginger Shandy.
Maloney was happy his Aunt’s show will be honoring servicemen. Maloney has served in the Army / Army National Guard for over 20 years including two deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. Maloney is currently serving as a Casualty Assistance Officer (COA) and Casualty Notification Officer (CNO) and works with and supports families of fallen Soldiers.
One of the servicemen welcomed home on the show is Maloney’s friend Sgt. Micah Welintukonis, an 18-year Army veteran who was critically injured in Afghanistan. Welintukonis was serving as a medic living with Afghan police forces when members of the Taliban entered their compound. Welintukonis was rushing to the aid of injured Americans on the second floor of a building when a suicide bomb exploded in a stairwell. He was hit by shrapnel in the arm and abdomen, causing life threatening internal injuries.
The episode Operation: Farm Fresh will be showing this weekend on Saturday may 24 at 10:30 a.m and Monday May 26 at 5:30 p.m. on the Food Network Channel.
Maloney is actively involved with The Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to the families of military personnel with ties to Massachusetts who have died as a result of active duty service post 9/11/2001.
