On Tuesday June 3, 2014 there was a three car crash in the area of 213 Mendon Street, Upton.
According to Upton Police Chief Bradley a 17-year-old female from Upton and a 45-year-old female from Mendon were stopped for a school bus in the area of 213 Mendon Street when an 80-year-old male from Upton failed to stop. The 80-year-old driver struck the vehicle of the 45-year-old female who then collided into the vehicle of the 17-year-old.
The 80-year-old male from Upton and the 45-year-old female from Mendon were transported to Milford Regional Hospital with minor injuries. The School Bus was not involved in the collision.
This is not the first time a pile up has happened at this location. On January 8, 2014 the same bus had stopped at 213 Mendon Street and was stuck when the car immediately behind the bus was forced into the bus when it was rear ended by another vehicle.

The police are consistently enforcing traffic laws on that stretch. They can’t be there ALL the time. Cut our boys in blue some slack. You’re doing a great job, Chief Bradley.
It appears that Chief Bradley and the troops need to get the radar out on the roadways and also focus their efforts on enforcing tailgating laws. Since this is the same section with a repeated scenario of multiple car collision, (obviously caused by drivers too close to stop),drivers need to be pushed into using common sense to avoid tailgating. I’ve had numerous folks come up and stay on a bumper when the passing option ws available with visibility and no traffic. But they just choose to tailgate out of ignorance. I hope the Chief gets the troops out ticketing driver that are tailgating.
