Join Friends of Upton State Forest and the Department of Conservation and Recreation as we hike a portion of the old road to Hopkinton Spring. Our destination is the Old North Cemetery, aka Bradish Cemetery, where there are graves for early settlers of North Upton, including several soldiers of the Revolution. We will also learn the history of nearby Leclaire Square before returning. Along the trail, we will note hybrid oaks and an interesting geological feature.
We will meet at the Upton State Forest CCC Camp near the intersection of Southborough and Westborough Roads in Upton. The GPS address is 205 Westboro Rd. A liability waiver is required. Children are welcome with a parent attending. Please leave pets at home.
This is a moderate three-hour hike with uneven footing and steep areas. It is single file in some places. We suggest sunscreen, insect repellant and water. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes.
In case of inclement weather, we will cancel by 5:00 PM on June 21. For questions, or to be on the list for a cancellation notice, send an email tonews@friendsofuptonstateforest.org.
The hike will take placed on Sunday June 22 (Registration 12:25; Hike at 1:00 pm)
