Overview:
As we know, the weather forecast can change rapidly across New England. With the generation of tropical storm Arthur, this has changed the forecast for the Forth of July. The following is my latest forecast update:
A storm system over the Midwest will gradually move into the northeast beginning late tomorrow and provide a threat of showers and storms through Friday. A cold front will be associated with this storm system, as it will move slowly through the region during the day Thursday and Friday. Some locally heavy downpours are likely during this time.
By Friday morning, the cold front will be positioned over region. At the same time, tropical system Arthur will move to the north and east as it’s forecasted to track to the east of Nantucket by late Friday as of now. However, moisture will be transported ahead of storm and along the frontal boundary into Southern New England on Friday. This will result in a threat of showers and storms on Friday. Also, some minor flooding is possible. Unfortunately, the showers and storms may linger into the evening. This will put a hamper on any outdoor festivities for the Forth of July.
Some good news in the forecast is a ridge of high pressure building in from the west on Saturday. This will provide for a gorgeous weekend, with dry weather and comfortable temperatures.
