The Upton Fire Department is reporting tests performed on the liquid spilled near the intersection of Maple Ave and Main Street appears to be an industrial cleaner/degreaser. The chemical spill has been contained to approximately 150 feet of pavement in the Southbound lane of Route 140. The situation is NON hazardous and under control. The spill was discovered at approximately 7:15 p.m. Mass Hazmat has been involved with the investigation.
The southbound lane of Route 140 near the West Upton Intersection will be reduced to one lane of traffic during the over night hours.
