Several States have contacted the Center for Disease Control after hundreds of children have been hospitalized from what is believed to be a rare lung virus.
The virus can appear as a severe cold with a runny nose and coughing but can be particularly dangerous for children with asthma.
Children who do not have a history of wheezing are wheezing with this virus.
Of those who have been hospitalized some have required sedation and a breathing tube. In one particularly severe case a teen developed symptoms on day one and on day two his asthma became so severe he turned blue and was placed on an emergency breathing tube.
Children under the age of 5 and those who have asthma are most at risk.
The virus has been reported in ten states, but is expected to spread.

I wonder, by looking at that map, if any studies have been conducted that link the susceptibility to this virus, to the states where conventional and gmo foods are grown- ie where parts per billion of pesticides and herbicides in the air, food, and water are higher than the rest of the county. Or if breathing disorders like asthma have been linked with the cumilative exposure to these environmental pollutants in general. Also makes me wonder about other environmental pollutants linked to the farming industry… Hope those kids get better soon.
