Social media was buzzing over the past few days on what is happening with the land on Chestnut street slated to be the future home of BVT softball fields. The land was donated to the school for the use of softball fields by the Trask family.
Upton Daily reached out to BVT to find out the status .
BVT Superintendent Dr. Fitzpatrick responded, “Unfortunately, we need to modify our original plan to utilize the donated Trask Family Chestnut Street property. The land is not suitable for cost effective athletic field development as we had hoped. This summer I reached out to Atty. Trask to explore alternative uses and he asked us to be patient while he investigates other business ventures for other property which he owns.”

The town may need to consider the conditions imposed on the donation of this land. Must it be used for athletic fields? Would it better serve Upton as conservation land? Is the land use restricted to the schools?
I would like to see a resolution of the land use, but would NOT like to see it developed…..
