At approximately 7:20 a.m. a SUV was totaled after crashing with a tractor-trailer on 495 Southbound just before exit 21. According to NE Incident Alerts hydraulic tools (a.k.a. JAWS of Life) were used to remove the driver of the SUV who was said to be conscious/alert and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures. Other reports said the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. The accident had traffic backed up on 495 and the Mass Pike for over two and a half hours.
