Memorial Fourth Grade students presenting Amy Griswold of the United Parish Food Pantry donation check
Memorial School Fourth Grade students have been very busy raising funds for the United Parish Food Pantry.
As a service project the fourth graders collected spare change. Principal Debra Swain said, “The fourth graders made collection containers and visited all of the classrooms at Memorial to ask students to bring in “spare change” to donate to the food pantry.” Swain said they explained to the younger students that there are people in the community who need their help.
As a way to promote community involvement throughout the school community Swain said, “David Antonelli’s Life Skills Students will use the money collected to shop for the food pantry. The Life Skills students will also stock the food on the shelves of the pantry.”
The amount collected by Memorial School fourth graders was one thousand three hundred eighty two dollars and seventy six cents ($1382.76). The students presented the check to Amy Griswold who accepted the donation on behalf of the United Parish Food Pantry.
