A Wet, Not White Christmas Expected

A large storm system will move into the region beginning late tonight and lasting through Christmas Day. This storm system will drag in mild temperatures and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. This will result in heavy rain, patchy fog and even thunder.

The good news is that the rain should move out by Christmas afternoon, as a ridge of high pressure will build in from the south. As of now, the upcoming weekend is looking mostly dry with pleasant temperatures.

Forecast:

Tuesday, December 23^rd: Mostly cloudy with periods of rain till 10 A.M., then scattered rain showers afterward. 80 percent chance of rain. High temperature around 42F. Winds from the east at 15-25mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers. 60 percent chance of rain. Patchy fog possible toward daybreak. Low temperature around 42F in the evening, then increasing to around 45 by daybreak. Winds from the east switching to from the west at 5-10 mph.

Christmas Eve, December 24^th: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers before 8-10 A.M., then periods of rain, heavy at times afterward. Some thunder possible. Patchy fog. 70 percent chance of rain. High temperature around 53F. Light winds from the south.

Christmas Eve Night: Mostly cloudy with periods of rain, heavy at times. Some thunder possible. Patchy fog. 70 percent chance of rain. Low temperature around 53F in the early evening, then increasing to around 57 by early daybreak. Winds from the south at 15-25 mph, with higher gusts likely.

Christmas, December 25^th: Mostly cloudy with periods of rain, mainly before 2 P.M. A few breaks of sun possible late afternoon. Some heavy downpours possible. Patchy fog. 60 percent chance of rain. High temperature around 57F in the morning, then decreasing to around 43F by late afternoon. Winds from the south-southwest at 15-25mph.
