Last week Fire Lt. Shaun Marchand was diagnosed with the flu which turned into pneumonia requiring hospitalization. Due to complications of pneumonia Shaun was sedated and intubated and recently moved to ICU at Mass General Hospital in Boston. Shaun is facing a lengthy hospital stay and will likely require long-term care to assist in his full recovery.
The Marchand Family has devoted a lifetime of public service to the Town of Upton. Shaun’s father Mike Marchand was a volunteer firefighter for many years and is currently serving as the Assistant Fire Chief. His late grandfather Rodney Marchand was a former Upton Police Chief for 20 years. Shaun has been a career member at the Upton Fire Department for over 7 years.
