Latest snow and ice totals for Upton area

winterweatherby Meteorologist Jeb Postle
Alerts: A winter Weather Advisory still remains in effect from 1 PM this afternoon through 1 pm Sunday, for a combination of snow and freezing rain.

Totals:  3-5 inches of snow, along with an ice accretion of up to .10”.

 Forecast:

Afternoon: Snow will develop between 3-6 PM. Snowfall amounts less than 1”. High temperature around 27F. Winds from the south at 10-20 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with periods of snow, heavy at times. Snow will slowly transition to freezing rain and sleet between 12-3 AM. Periods of freezing rain, mixing in with rain at times after 3 AM. 90 % chance of precip. Snowfall amounts between 3-5”. Ice accretion up to .10”.  Low temperature around 27 early in the evening, then slowly rising into the low to mid 30s by the overnight. Winds from the west-southwest switching to west-northwest at 5-10 mph.

Sunday, February 22nd: Mostly cloudy in the morning with a chance of rain and snow showers before 10 AM. Partly cloudy in the afternoon.  50 % chance of precip. High temperature around 35F.  Winds from the west-northwest at 5-10 mph.

Note: I tweaked the forecast a bit, as I think the cold air will hang around longer across the region. This is the reason I bumped my snowfall from 2-4″ to 3-5”. I still think there will be a transition period of snow to freezing rain after 12 AM. As always, any shift in the track can result in a bit more snow or less in the way of snow.
