Will Upton see write-in campaign for school committee seat?

uptonThe last day to file nomination papers for the annual town election was Monday. According to Upton Town Clerk Kelly McElreath there will be two vacant seats on the ballot, two contested races, and several uncontested races.

Frank Aniello pulled papers challenging sitting Selectman Robert Fleming for the three-year seat. Fleming has served on the board for twenty-seven years.

School Committee member Chris Russo decided not to seek another term. Current member Tanna Jango is running for the three-year seat to replace Russo. Tanna was placed on the committee this year by the Selectmen when member Grace Maneri resigned before the end of the term. The one year seat Jango currently fills will be vacant on the ballot. The vacant ballot seat mirrors the 2013 election which resulted in a write in campaign between Grace Maneri and Liz Fournier.

Stephen Matellian will run for a vacant, two-year Finance Committee seat.

The three-year Assessors of Taxes seat will be vacant on the ballot as incumbent Charles Marsden has not filed for re-election.

Incumbents who have filed to run for re-election include Town Moderator David Loeper, Cemetery Commissioner Robert Richard (three years), Cemetery Commission Glenn Flower (one year), Health Board member Alfred Holman (three years), Housing Authority member Rena Richard (five years), Planning Board member Thomas Davidson (five years), and Commissioner of Trust Funds Kenneth Glowacki (three years), Library trustees Joseph McMahon, John Robertson and Laurie Wodin have all filed to retain their three-year seats.

The annual town election will take place Monday, May 4.

  1. Why would anyone in either Upton or Mendon ever run for office, knowing that the minute they did or said something that the towns’ loon disagreed with they were going to be harassed by him, called names, have lies published about them?
