Fine and Performing Arts Programs Take Place at New Facility Opening this Summer
(March 17, 2015 – HOPKINTON, MA) — The Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) announces its summer 2015 youth programs lineup. New offerings include full-day Fine Arts and Performing Arts Academies especially designed for serious young artists, entering second to eighth-grade, and a half-day Art Kamp for Kids that is a fun introduction to art for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten aged children. In addition to these new arts programs, the HCA summer line-up includes classes in theater, ballet, music, filmmaking, and more. Summer session runs June 20 to August 21 in the new arts center at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe St. Visit www.hopartscenter.org to learn more about classes, tuition cost, or to register.
Young thespians are invited to register for the summer youth musical theater workshop, “Annie Jr.,” produced by Enter Stage Left (ESL), the resident theater company of the HCA. Students in this workshop will have ample stage time and will be cast in leading and supporting roles. In three-weeks students will develop characters, build voice and dance skills, and gain confidence on the stage. Two performances will be held at the end of the workshop on July 24 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Hopkinton High School. This workshop is for students in fourth to eighth-grade. An ensemble workshop, for first to third-graders, meets for two-weeks and children in this program will join the main cast in large production numbers.
“The HCA is an inclusive organization where students can discover their artistic talents in a safe and fun learning environment,” said Kris Waldman, artistic director.
In the middle of a period of significant growth, the HCA is set to see the first phase of its new arts complex completed by midsummer. The renovated dairy barn, located behind the historic farmhouse at 98 Hayden Rowe St., will house gallery, classroom, and performance space, and is slated to be the cornerstone for these new and returning summer programs.
“We are so thankful to the instructors, students, volunteers, community members, and foundations who have contributed time and support to the HCA’s ongoing capital campaign,” Waldman said. “The renovations and improvements to the HCA campus will be a showcase for the wonderful arts programming we have here for people of all ages and abilities.”
